McKinney is the northern adjoining city to Allen. Geographically it is three times the size of Allen and is also the county seat. Collin County is among the top wealthiest counties in all of Texas and the United States. McKinney was incorporated in 1848. It is exactly 30 miles north of downtown Dallas and has over 100,000 residents. The old town courthouse square is a tourist attraction and a must see. Our favorite restaurant in the entire DFW metroplex is Goodhues on the square - spectacular food.
McKinney is home to the “Heard Wildlife Sanctuary”. They even have a raptor center and are well worth the visit. Plan to spend the entire day.
McKinney’s recent airport expansion has earned the new designation “McKinney Regional Airport” which is a huge boost for the local economy. It is just outside the TCA of DFW airport which is a very good thing. Air carriers such as Southwest Airlines will be in service soon. McKinney boasts the largest sports-field complex in the US. McKinney is one of the easiest cities to navigate through featuring 3 highways that move traffic effortlessly. Drive 10 minutes north and you are in the country. Continue on another 40 minutes and you will cross spectacular Lake Texoma (a recreational paradise) into Oklahoma.
McKinney’s educational system rivals the best in Texas. Featuring 18 elementary schools, 6 middle schools and 3 high schools, yet McKinney maintains a small town feel. Housing ranges from $100K to over $2 million. McKinney is home to the only TPC golf course in Texas which host several PGA golf tours. It is comprised of mostly master planned communities. Two very well known include Stonebridge and Craig Ranch. Craig Ranch eventually will grow to 50,000 residents. It is an upscale and unique community with a European theme. It is also the new home to the world famous Cooper Clinic. A huge theme park (similar to Six Flags) will begin construction very soon. Once completed Craig Ranch will be a several billion dollar community. McKinney is hot and is a spectacular investment opportunity for those that want it all.
